On Glaze
The vessels remain in their bisque state for weeks, sometimes months. I live with them before any colour is introduced. I don’t choose glazes quickly. I let the vessels show their character. At some point, almost without effort, a colour begins to belong. Not chosen, but recognised.
Colour, for me, is not surface. It presses into the form, finishes the sentence, carries feeling where the clay stops. This is that narrow moment, just before firing, when everything reduces to a few necessary choices.
Once fired, colour and form are no longer separate decisions.
